The City of Huber Heights, Ohio, located just minutes from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and in close proximity of the Dayton International Airport and the I-75/I-70 “Crossroads of America” interchange with a population of 43,439, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of full-time Firefighter and Firefighter / EMT.
The City of Huber Heights is a progressive Fire Division that is comprised of 68 career Firefighter/Paramedics, Firefighter/EMT, and Firefighters running out of three stations serving the community utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and procedures. The City is conducting a written test on June 14, 2025, and oral interview(s) to be scheduled the week beginning June 30, 2025, to establish an eligibility list to fill immediate openings for the positions of full-time Level II Firefighter and full-time Firefighter/ EMT. Prior to appointment, the candidate must submit to an extensive background investigation, truth verification test, drug screen, physical ability test, physical and psychological examination.
Minimum Requirements: Applicant must be at least 18 years of age; High School Diploma or GED equivalent; possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License. To qualify for the Level II Firefighter position, the candidate must possess an Ohio Level II Firefighter certification. To qualify for Level II Firefighter/EMT position, the candidate must possess a Level II Firefighter certification and an EMT certification. All applicable certifications for the positions must be possessed at the time of appointment
The 2025 salary range (including holiday pay) for a Level II Firefighter is $49,490.94 to $72,904.70 with a five-step pay process. The salary range (including holiday pay) for a Firefighter/EMT is $52,584.13 to $77,461.25 with the same five-step pay process. Firefighters who obtain their EMT certification and Firefighter/EMT’s who attain their paramedic certification will automatically be moved to that respective pay grade. This process will offer the ability to ultimately advance to the position of Firefighter/Paramedic.
